I have worked with Jack and Jerilyn for many years now, and their indexes,
often times written within very tight schedules, are always top-notch:
well thought-out, clear, accurate, all-encompassing. I strongly recommend
their services, except you can't have them when I need them. I must say this might be the best organized, logically
structured, intricate subject matter index I have ever seen. Kudos
to whomever or whatever system created this Really nice! Barnes & Noble had at last a dozen books on Windows
XP on the shelf, most of which do not have the word 'DOS' in the index
(the main thing I was looking for) or references to shutdown hang-ups. The
one I bought, primarily because of the usability of the index, was
Windows XP Home Edition: The Complete Reference, by John Levine and Margaret
Levine-Young. Bottom line: The 24pp index sold this $40 book. Jack
Lewis, the indexer did a fantastic job!
My pet peeve with most tech books is sloppy, incomplete
indexing. To be genuinely useful, a good index is essential, and Mastering
Mac OS X is one of the better tech books at fulfilling this critically
important requirement. [Web Indexing] [Multi-media Indexing] [Printed Media Indexing]
